EQUIPMENT INSURANCE AVAILABLE

Our Policy:

Our contract hold you responsible for damage to canoes, or loss of canoes and equipment. We will hold your deposit, or charge for either loss or damage. Review the points of hazards to avoid personal injury or damage to the canoe.

Hazards

  • Do not leave canoes, or equipment, unattended. Return promptly to the shop after use.
  • Avoid any rapids you feel you are not sure you can run. Canoes have been lost in the following places.
  • 1 . The Rockpile Rapids
2 . Beneath crossing when the water is high.
3 . The chute at Mueller Falls
4 . The Rebecca Creek crossing is extremely dangerous. Do not run under it. All canoes must dock 20 yards upriver in the cove on the left.

  • If a canoe capsizes in the water, attempt to bring it parallel to the current by grabbing the stern rope.
  • Do not create overweight in the canoe with too many people, or too much equipment.
  • If your canoe takes on water, beach it and empty the water.
  • If the canoe lodges on rocks, get out. It will ride higher and is less likely to take water over the gunwales causing it to sink and pin.
  • Tie canoes securely on your car.
  • RULES OF THE RIVER

  • Each group must have garbage bags lashed to the twarts in their canoe. Place all garbage in bags at all times.
  • If garbage is found on the river, pick it up to dispose of it at the roadside garbage pickups.
  • Keep all cars and equipment off the roads around the crossings. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed and impounded in Boerne.
  • Property along the Guadalupe is privately owned. Do not camp, picnic or hike here unless you have permission from the owners. Camping and picnicking can be done on the islands in the river, crossings, (which are county property) or campsites marked on the maps.
  • Carrying firearms in a canoe is a felony.
  • POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Cascading waterfalls from Glen Rose formation between Sultenfuss and Bergman Crossing.
  • Candidate for largest tree in Texas.
  • Honey Creek, just above Specht's Crossing.
  • Adventurous small cave beneath Mueller Falls and Rust Falls.
  • Have a very safe and fun trip down the Guadalupe River and remember to use you head when doing so.
